About Adriana

Adriana Schmuker, MSW, CPT, RYT-500 teaches yoga and mindfulness with the intention to compassionately hold space for individuals whom are curious about present moment awareness of the mind, body and heart.

Adriana began her yoga and meditation journey in 2000, while expecting her firstborn and also adjusting as a new military spouse in Norfolk, Virginia.   Her being away from family, friends, and colleagues in Detroit was difficult, but cleared the way for worldly experiences and reinvention.  In her studies and practice, she uncovered yogic philosophies and methods that cultivate mindfulness, acceptance, tranquility, clarity, and adaptability, especially during major life changes.

Adriana has trained under esteemed yoga and meditation mentors that include Faith Warner-Martin, Rebecca Cohen, Michelle Pietrzak-Wegner, Atma Dharmindra, and Ikki Bando, while residing on the island of Okinawa, Japan.  Adriana has offered private, semi-private, and group yoga and meditation services for US Active Duty Service Members and their families, as well as the Host Nationals of Japan. She has also collaborated with the Department of Defense Education Activity.

Adriana’s teaching approach is kind, resourceful, trauma-informed and individually centered. Her programs encourage concentration, breath/body awareness, balance, safe alignment, physical strength/endurance, controlled movements, personal range of motion and stillness.

Adriana is a Yoga Alliance-Registered Yoga Teacher and an Athletics and Fitness Association of America-Certified Personal Trainer.  She has specialized training in Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates, Kids’ & Family Yoga, Yin Yoga, and SUP Yoga & Fitness.

Adriana holds a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.  She has worked at various organizations, such as Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Ronald McDonald House, Wayne State University, and US Navy Fleet & Family Support Center.

Adriana continues to offer classes, educational programs and consultation services that expand the knowledge and practice of yoga and mindfulness at the Tri-Cities Family YMCA, Muskegon YMCA, Total Trek Quest, Spring Lake Schools, and On The Path Yoga Studio in Western Michigan.
